About Us
"Men’s Work” typically refers to activities and discussions focused on personal growth, self awareness, and exploring specific challenges and topics that are relevant to men’s experiences. This can vary depending on the specific goals and needs of the group, but here are some common areas that can be considered as part of men’s work.
The specific activities and discussions of men’s work is determined by the goals and needs of the mentoring group. Conducting regular check-ins with the members and actively involving them in shaping the agenda ensures that the men’s work remains relevant, engaging, and meaningful to the group as a whole.
Men of Promises mentors young men ages 25 to 35. We pair them with trained men who provide mentoring at two levels. At level one, young men receive ongoing guidance for general life experiences at no cost. At level two, young men are offered direction in the pursuit of a specific goal for a fee. For example, level 2 mentoring might require more frequent mentor sessions or higher-level mentoring that calls for specialized skills.
What We Do
We believe that all too often young men ages 25 to 35 do not receive guidance until after they have gotten into trouble with addiction or incarceration; therefore, we have chosen to focus on young men who have not had these experiences. Our goal is to help young men avoid these challenges and others so that they can thrive during their foundational years of manhood and make substantial contributions to their community.
Who We Help
Wayne McMillan, a Nashville native, has used his gift of transforming spaces as a general contractor and the owner of A Plus Handyman LLC for over forty years. As he approached retirement, he decided to create Men of Promises because he wanted to see more young men involved in community service. During his retirement he also plans to continue activities he enjoys: landscape design, restoring antique cars, and spending even more time with his beautiful and encouraging wife.
